Amitec PI Vision Suite: Advanced Dashboards and Custom Symbols for AVEVA PI Vision
We are proud to share that a joint customer presentation involving Grace, Tobias Wilden, and Camila Silva has been accepted for AVEVA World 2026 in Milan.
The presentation will showcase how the Grace team at the Düren site implemented an automated daily production booking process from the AVEVA PI System into SAP as part of a global Material Requirement Planning (MRP) initiative. Amitec supported the project in designing and implementing the solution logic behind the automated production booking process.

Connecting plant data with enterprise planning
In many production environments, the link between operational data and enterprise planning still depends on manual steps, fragmented data handling, or local workarounds. This project set out to change that.
The objective was clear: replace manual daily production booking with a reliable, scalable, and automated data flow that supports both local operations and global standardization goals. At the center of the solution was the AVEVA PI System as the operational data backbone, combined with logic to calculate production quantities and prepare the data in a structured format for SAP upload.
This type of integration reflects exactly the kind of value Amitec supports in industrial environments: using PI System data and SAP connectivity to bridge the gap between shop-floor operations and enterprise-level planning processes. Amitec’s own SynergyVision MES positioning emphasizes seamless SAP integration, native AVEVA PI System compatibility, and the ability to connect production tracking with planning and reporting workflows.
A complex production environment with mixed operating philosophies
One of the key challenges in the project was the production setup itself. The Düren site combines continuous and batch-driven production processes, which required a solution capable of handling different operating philosophies within one consistent framework.
To make this work, the project team first had to establish a robust digital representation of the production environment. That included:
- defining a digital twin of the production assets
- modeling slightly different equipment types and production lines
- faultlessly identifying batch process steps
- correctly interpreting state parameters for continuous processes
- ensuring that production events and quantities were recognized consistently and accurately
Only with that foundation in place could the automated booking logic be implemented reliably.
From raw production signals to SAP-ready daily booking
Based on the defined production model, the solution calculates production volumes automatically using AVEVA PI System data and transforms the results into a structured format ready for SAP upload.
The implementation also included an automated macro-based handover to SAP, enabling daily production booking with far less manual effort than before.
The result is a process that helps improve:
- booking consistency
- data quality
- transparency between operations and planning
- standardization across teams and sites
- efficiency in daily production reporting
This approach aligns closely with how Amitec describes its SAP- and PI-based manufacturing solutions: combining production tracking, material and batch context, KPI visibility, and SAP integration to improve transparency and decision-making across the production landscape.

What the AVEVA World session will cover
The presentation at AVEVA World 2026 will focus on both the business and technical side of the implementation.
Attendees can expect insights into:
- the challenges of connecting operational production data with enterprise planning processes
- the role of the AVEVA PI System as a central data backbone
- the implementation of automated production volume calculation
- the handling of mixed continuous and batch production environments
- lessons learned from creating a robust daily production booking workflow into SAP
Just as importantly, the session will show what can be achieved through close collaboration between the customer team and implementation partner.
A practical example of digitalization delivering measurable value
For us, this project is a strong example of what industrial digitalization should look like in practice: not just collecting more data, but turning operational data into structured, reliable business value.
By connecting plant-floor data from the AVEVA PI System with SAP-based planning processes, the project helps reduce manual work, improve booking accuracy, and support more standardized planning and reporting. That is fully in line with Amitec’s broader focus on expert PI System guidance, integration, and tailored support for industrial organizations.
We are excited to see Grace present this project on the AVEVA World stage in Milan and proud that Amitec will be part of the story behind it.
